An Australian man based in Hong Kong could be forced to go without "urgent" cancer surgery if Queensland Health bars him from entering the state because his flight home is via Sydney — a COVID-19 hotspot.A cancelled international flight threw Andrew Edwards' carefully made plans to return to Brisbane for surgery into disarray
"It looks like I've got to come through Sydney, and Queensland is preventing me from doing do that, preventing me from getting much-needed, urgent follow-up surgery," Mr Edwards toldThe Federal Government requires people to quarantine in their port of arrival, and Mr Edwards' application to transit through Sydney was knocked back.
However, after alerting Queensland Health of the need to stop in Sydney and upon making the case to quarantine at home for his care needs, Mr Edwards said his application was declined.
Qld health. Not actually concerned with health just with politics
Some reason you wrote ‘urgent’ not urgent? Are you disparaging the man’s statement? Seems snide and unnecessary. Do better
get the surgery in HK
