When I started school in 1955 I had friends where contracted polio. A year or two later they became available and the PTA and the March of Dimes inoculated every kid in the school I went to. A couple of years later the oral vaccine came out and that was a game changer.

Wow! Now maybe the Gates Foundation or other world medical charity can get killed virus vaccine to the remaining countries and truly wipe out this disease, rather than spreading it with cut rate vaccine?
Unfortunately the 'vaccine-derived cases' thing will be the only part that gets through to the antivax people. A worthwhile endeavor would be getting the more expensive inactivated virus polio vaccine to the poor countries that can't afford it, and use weakened virus instead.
