COVID-19: Outbreak team on site at Surrey's Bear Creek Villa seniors home

“This exposure does not mean that your family member is sick with COVID-19,” the letter reads.

“Residents and staff will be screened twice-daily for any signs of illness. Those who develop symptoms will be isolated, tested for COVID-19 and provided the care they need.” COVID-19 protocols had already been in place at Bear Creek, including mandatory masks and eye protection for staff, enhanced cleaning practices, physical distancing, staggered meal times, cancellation of group activities and visitor restrictions.

Additional measures now being implemented due to the positive case include active staff screeners on site from Fraser Health, ongoing staff education, priority access to personal protective equipment, and cohort grouping of staff and residents to prevent crossover between well and sick individuals. No further information is available at this time. Postmedia has reached out to Fraser Health for more details.
