Ottawa pledges $82.5-million for Indigenous mental health support during COVID-19 pandemic

Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller says access to many mental health services for Indigenous communities have been disrupted due to the pandemic. Some services have shifted to virtual and telehealth mental treatment options, which has created obstacles for people living in remote communities that have limited connectivity.Miller says the funding will support access to additional services, transitioning some to virtual platforms and supporting Indigenous partners in developing new ways to address substance use and to improve access to treatment.

He says the news funds are a response to the advocacy of many Indigenous leaders who have pushed for enhanced mental wellness supports. globepolitics Should we cry or laugh at the absurdity of the gov't posture of saving people from a crisis largely of gov't creation? The dimensions of the pandemic were massively inflated to justify a heavy duty lockdown. The later has caused ten times the damage caused by the actual virus.

Give the money straight to the Indigenous community instead of pilfering it before it gets there. They need to help Indigenous people deal with the hosing and mould crisis as well!

Ottawa will be asking the Indigenous peoples for mental health support funding when they 'Take Back Canada' with the help of new Conservative leader ErinOTooleMP.

It will be interesting to hear how people living in overcrowded isolated situations deal with living living in overcrowded isolated situations at a time when COVID is mainly affecting poorly managed, provincially-regulated, Long Term Care facilities.
