Artificial intelligence is playing a growing role in many medical fields, notably by facilitating diagnosis.

This is an apt example of the growing importance of artificial intelligence in medicine. Here is a list of just some of the applications that have been in the news recently.Deep learning can play a major role in the early detection of Alzheimer’s. Scans that measure the level of glucose in the brain can be used to diagnose this neurodegenerative disease, but the interpretation of these images is far from easy when Alzheimer’s is in its initial stages.

The goal is to make use of vast amounts of biological data in the design of new more effective treatments. In July 2019, a study published in the American scientific journal Archives showed that Google’s deep learning AI, LYNA, could detect breast cancer metastases more effectively than pathologists.
