Central Coast Health knew about a COVID-19 cluster linked to a Peats Ridge hydroponics farm for almost a week in early August, but did not release the information.

Health authorities did not disclose a cluster linked to a Central Coast hydroponics farm for five daysA global expert in COVID-19 policy says the revelations raise issues of transparency and trust in health authorities

after repeated requests from the ABC on Friday, August 7, five days after contract tracing had begun and seven days after the farm had closed due to coronavirus concerns.Professor of Epidemiology at UNSW Mary-Louise McLaws said nothing justified non-disclosure."It helps us to cooperate with the authorities, to understand how individual responses can cause a cluster."

The ABC has since learnt that the farm closed on July 30 after a farm employee was found to have been in close contact with a confirmed case.A case who attended St Brendan's Catholic Church in Bankstown went to a club in Mt Pritchard where a driver linked to the cluster was a patron. Two managers that reside on the farm tested negative and self-isolated for fourteen days as a precaution.

Is this true GladysB

I am still wondering what happened with the lost 70+ tests, from Balmain, done after the Woolworths worker tested positive. Were they redone? Was it too late because incubation/infectious period would have passed? It was just put down to an acceptable mistake? And now this.

I now take the NSW infected numbers announcements with a grain of salt. Thought they had some magical cure potion to stop infection!

Who owns this farm? Is it an LNP donor? Is it the Gerry Harvey cucumber venture? One of the farms complaining about labour being too expensive? Mainly employing seasonal workers from overseas? Do their lives matter? Why the secrecy? Where's the media?

This must raise questions about what’s happening in NSW.

Dan Andrews fault again I suppose?

Gladys is so blessed she’s protected by the media - can you imagine the screaming headlines if this was in Victoria. Front page of the smelly. On every Sky after dark program. On every news banner. But like her private security contractors sleeping on the job zipAuspolSoCorrupt

ABCscience These cases were mentioned in the NSW Health weekly epidemiology report dated 8 Aug that was released publicly on 13 Aug. That’s 13 days ago

noplaceforsheep Wha...a...t?!!! Why has this not been disclosed to Central Coast residents !!

No hard questioning about Hotel Quarantine breaches either

I thought we could trust NSWhealth. I thought they'd learned their lesson. It appears we can't. They're no better than Victoria.

0.011% of the US population under 65 have died of COVID 0.005% of the US population under 55 have died of COVID 0.0009% of the US population under 35 have died of COVID 0.0002% of the US population under 25 have died of COVID

Where are the 2 from Byron Bay a while back that people speak of too. Can't see them on the mapping.

pblakez Wot.

Please share co-morbidities and age of the deceased. Context is crucial for balanced and responsible reporting.

Disturbing! Keeping a COVID outbreak secret from the community and rest of Oz. Transparency? Safety? Just as disturbing in light of this, that PM Morrison praised NSW with the accolade ‘...the state had proven itself (to be) the 'gold standard' ..’? Trust?

The press is giving gladis a free ride They don't ask her any hard questions and when she sez 'its a miracle there hasnt been more infections they just nod there head and move on Like fck goverments should not be counting on miracles to protect people we want action not excuses

But...NSW health is a paradox of all COVID virtue, isn’t it?

Who would have thought a LiberalAus government would suppress the truth? auspol

I've been waiting for this. I knew of a case presented at wyong hospital at that time and yet nothing was said in the media.

I admit I have a one track mind nowadays, but I read this and just think, “Why aren’t NSW quarantine staff wearing masks? Bus drivers and guards especially?” IStillCallAustraliaHome and I despair. Is it wanton or is it stupid? Genuine question. NSWHealth Covid19NSW JakeLapham

Well well well...

WHY HASN'T GLADYS RESIGNED!? HOW CAN PEOPLE EVER TRUST HER AGAIN!? 😭😭😭😭😭 nswpol auspol

It’s happened in Victoria too. They initially had refused to name Cedar meat outbreak. It’s public health and public needs to know.

Wow, You'd think they'd of learned after RUBYPRINCESS cover up. Well done ABC for bringing this to attention. Professor Mary-Louise McLaws is one of the only trusted experts... she is very open & honest, unlike 'NSW health' who only add locally acquired case's to their numbers.

Don’t worry, they’re partaking in the herbal remedy approach 🌿 💨

noplaceforsheep been saying it day in day out that NSW figures do not add up. Lots of places under deep clean, closed or warnings for when positive cases were at certain places but almost no cases announced each day.

Why do state health authorities do this? Vic health did the same with the meat works cluster. Hard to believe any of the state's and territories numbers.

I wonder what the testing rates are in byron. Most people I know from northern NSW would sooner drop dead on the footpath than see a Dr for anything.

As a Coastie, we have heard nothing of this. Our main worry has been the number of Sydney visitors who flock here every weekend, but it's right here and we haven't been told. What about the locals who work there being told before spreading. 😷😷

Many questions...🤔 Is this the place Gerry Harvey used to own? Where he produced the plastic-wrapped mini cucumbers? When he wanted to become Tsatsiki King. Do they still mainly employ seasonal workers from overseas? Under what conditions? Do their lives matter?

Vic_Rollison you might be interested?

Is the farm still run by Nathan Clackson? The guy who loves to complain about not getting enough cheap labour? There may be some interesting reasons why this has been kept very, very quiet!

The workers got the disease from a driver who was at Mt Pritchard hence they are all part of that cluster. That's how clusters work.

This is unacceptable. I have zero confidence in GladysB government.

They started the contact tracing, they close the farm. Just because they failed to tell ABC means they failed to disclose? I don't get the logic here.

Didn't trust the figures from NSW ... What's the actual numbers liars

Oof, just down the road from a big water bottling plant too.

Not surprised at all. NSW has,a history of not being honest with public. During bushfires they kept telling public they had enough aerial fire fighting resources when they didnt. They were selling the Fed message & now the Fed message is NSW is best at managing covid. auspol

lol smh have been taken for suckers. No idea.

The figures coming out of NSW can't be trusted.

Our governments are doing all they can, mistakes will occur.. Australia is experiencing winter, if you look around, we're doing ok...

Well this is a worry. Why would they not disclose this?

Uh huh. I wonder how many more clusters in NSW are undisclosed.

The Reserve Bank’s other big worry: Trump & Co | The New Daily Entirely PM Morrison's fault & he should apologise to the Australian people for this humanitarian blunder

Eagleresa And here it is. As i have mentioned before NSW aint truthful.

When is GladysB going to resign, that’s what was demanded of DanAndrews

'Where's the demand for heads?!

Full mental health effects of COVID-19 'will not be seen for some time' | Sky News AustraliaPsychotherapist and relationship counsellor Melissa Ferrari says we may not see the full mental health effects of the coronavirus pandemic for some time to come. \n\n“Mental health issues appear to be going up but I think we may not see the ramifications of that right now… but in the long term I think we really will have a serious issue,” she said. \n\nMs Ferrari said so many people’s sense of self was gained through their work or community groups “like a gym or mother’s group” and now “all those things have been taken away because of lockdowns”. \n\n“When that’s gone, mental health issues can really start to emerge and it’s a big concern,” she said. \n\nShe said early intervention was 'really really important' and urged Australians to seek help at the first sign of difficulty. \n\nIf you or anyone you know requires assistance, phone Lifeline on 13 11 14. \n\nImage: Getty The full effects of the mental health fallout won’t ever be known. Yes we did fuk the economy. And we know that the fall out from the lockdown will lead to way more deaths, suicides and domestic violence but we did help a few dying 90 year olds with underlying health conditions live a few weeks longer. So a pat on the back to everyone. There should be a class action law suite for all affected by the poor management by the Andrews government.

World Health Organisation hopes coronavirus crisis can be over in two yearsThe head of the World Health Organisation hopes the coronavirus pandemic will be shorter than the 1918 Spanish flu and last less than two years. I have a hard time believing the WHO after amount of mixed messages they have sent. Who was the bright spark that looked at Ethiopia & thought their health care outcomes, science & policies are so advanced we should get a politician from there to be head of a world health group ? FACT CHECK: The world health organisation is actually a state apparatus of the CCP.
