Senator Kiko Pangilinan: “We could not help but ask: who is profiting from imported and overpriced PPEs?

But after investing in new equipment, the government ignored them and stepped up importation of medical products and supplies, particularly PPE.

“Some people are definitely making a killing out of the misery brought upon our people by the coronavirus, coming as it does in many forms we cannot even imagine,” Lacson said, noting the irregularities that have emerged during the pandemic. These include the alleged abuse of Philippine Health Insurance Corp.’s advanced payments system, the planned purchase of overpriced information technology equipment and now, the questionable purchases of PPE.

Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado admitted on Saturday that “before, we relied on imports since there were a few local manufacturers only who cannot provide enough supply … but the President prefers local manufacturers now that there are many [of them] already.’But a check with PS-DBM’s website before it was shut down on Saturday showed that the government, as of Aug.

Bayanihan 2 provides P3 billion for the purchase of these items to be provided to local health workers and barangay officials, and states that “preference shall be given to products manufactured, produced, or made in the Philippines.”“The provision is even more urgent now with this revelation from local producers.

Si bong go

I bet Duque knows. It is his blessings in disguise😜

Good question! DOHgovph SecDuque sagot!!!

Tama.. i thought we already have factories to make our own ppes... wow.. they talked about patriotism of nurses but they buy ppes from other countries..i mean probably it is from china..... i believe we have talented filipinos who can actually make ppes for filipinos...

For friends to get richer

Secondly why did the DOH purchase the PPEs from expensive suppliers? Thirdly, why did the senators not be proactive and made a law for maximum retail price for safety products? During this pademic, how do you all rate the Senators, LGUs and Barangays? Have they done thier jobs?

Kanya kanya nakaw dahil magnanakaw ang liderato!

This is baffling. PPEs can be manufactured locally. It not only saves money, but also helps Filipinos earn- which help a lot in energizing our dying economy. Kung di pa tanga ang mga DDS at support pa rin sa gagong Poon nila, kahit lupasay na tayo. Gago talaga.

P20B, sir?
