Melburnians are showing signs of lockdown fatigue, as the city enters the half-way mark of strict stage four lockdown measures.

The surge was largely driven by older Victorians, with 20 per cent more senior myki card holders using the public transport network on August 15 than on August 8.Overall, the numbers of people travelling around Melbourne has fallen dramatically through lockdown: public transport use was at 9 per cent of pre-lockdown levels on August 15, pedestrian traffic was at 15 per cent, and road use at 33 per cent.

Visits to parks have increased under stage four restrictions by 12 per cent across Melbourne, according to the government data.Premier Daniel Andrews on Saturday acknowledged the difficulties of sticking with the restrictions. "I just say to people, we can't just stop. We can't give up. We've got to keep going. The only thing that wins, if we let our fatigue get the better of us, is this virus. It'll spread more rapidly. It'll take more lives. The state recorded 182 new cases on Saturday, the second day running with fewer than 200 cases. A man in his 50s was among 13 people to lose their lives to the virus. Other victims were aged in their 70s, 80s, 90s and one woman was older than 100.

"Even though this is a challenging time, some humour is a very good thing to just try and remind people that we all have a part to play," Mr Andrews said.

I can't wait to be kept in stage 4 for months while reality TV shows are filmed. It's an excellent deal.

FlogWarrior They would say that: anything to feed dissent😖🙄😡💪🏿

It could be worse the majority understand the reasons behind the lock down. Only profit driven right-wing wanker politicians and the twats who voted for them complain about it .

SMH doing its best to be Murdoch lite.

We are just fed up with incompetent politicians and health ‘experts’ wirh their failed actions and disgraceful alarmism through this event.

please the rest of the country is sick of hearing about Melburnians ............. You got what you voted for thank Dictator Dan auspol

Comes with a favourite colour and nothing else

Lock down fatigue.....ffs. Just stay home and shut up.

They have been showing signs of lockdown fatigue from Day one, however it so important that they stay the course. Good on you all Melburnians it will be worthwhile in the long run.

FOOTAGE FROM SCOMO'S OFFICE WHEN HE FOUND OUT BORDERS WERE CLOSING. 😂😂😂😂😂

It’s not enough to make up fake stories anymore, they have to make up a fake public and a fake audience to match them

They should try and live through I don't know, the 2nd world War for instance... Poor babies

Look what the CCP is doing around the world right now. Problematic vaccines which didn’t pass proper clinic trials? Or a new round of Bio attack?

Definitely not - reinvigorated that the lockdown is starting to have affect on number of covid cases. More determined than ever not to let SMH & other liberal hacks bully us into early opening and losing all the gain we have made in battle against covid. IStandWithDan

“Victorian lockdown shows promising results as number of cases fall down halfway through the stage-four restrictions” This is how you report the news. Every single Australian is going through some sort of fatigue due to this pandemic, show some optimism is the least you can do.

Don't tell us how we are feeling. 🖕

No we're not

Fraud fatigue.

Cases fall, what case

Spare a thought for people in detention centers.

💤 😴

I can't bare this shit anymore

stay in Sydney

OH FFS!! it's ONLY 6 weeks....if you have a roof over your head and food in the cupboards ..be grateful and just get over it!! Most of us are fine...and look out for those that aren't!!

Brett has locked up millions of covid19 free Victorians killing 1 million jobs and destroying the economy while he gets paid in full and total freedom. What a power trip for him. AuspolSoCorrupt CovidVic

Pretty poor effort. Australia suffered years of severe restrictions during WWII, including blackouts, rationing, and tens of thousands of dead.

I'm showing signs of SMH fatigue. Bullshit news every fucking day . I guess it's lucky we're at war against a virus and not another country, because you'd be doing your best to undermine the moral of the country AND pass on secrets to the enemy. Well done, traitors.

No shit Sherlock

Am I Thanks for telling me! 🙄

And why do ppl drop the O when saying Melbournians? It’s still the same pronunciation....

More like Chief Scam Artist Psychopath

These pricks in government won’t be happy until the Victorian economy is completely destroyed.

Everyone single person is showing fatigue in australia. Regardless of restrictions. Ffs.
