Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton says Victoria is on a trend to see new daily COVID-19 cases drop to below 150 next week."It's great to see two days in a row under 200, certainly we're trending down. That is showing up in the stabilisation in our hospital figures as well, we've got a decrease in hospitalised number of patients, a decrease in ICU and even ventilated.
More than 600 Victorians are in hospital, including 36 in intensive care. Thirty new 'mystery cases' without a known source were recorded on Saturday, bringing the total to 3838. "It depends on the numbers we are seeing. If we have no community transmission whatsoever, then I am not going to be recommending [mandatory] masks beyond that, once we've got an assurance that is the case, if we can get there," he said.
