PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded five new Covid-19 cases Thursday (Aug 20), says the Health Ministry.

"The five involved two Malaysians and three foreigners. The cases were from Japan and Bangladesh ," he said.Dr Noor Hisham said a new cluster , which was isolated, had been identified on a vessel at Bintulu, Sarawak.

"The vessel had been to Japan. They are receiving medical treatment at the Bintulu Hospital. This cluster does not pose a threat of spreading to the community because it is an isolated import cluster on a ship," he said adding that active case detection and contact screenings were being conducted. Cumulatively, the country has had a total of 9,240 infections since the outbreak began earlier this year.
