The World Health Organisation is warning the coronavirus is being predominantly spread by young people, many of whom are unaware they've been infected.

Officials claimed new infections of people in their 20s, 30s and 40s had risen globally and placed the vulnerable at increased risk. An analysis of six million cases between February 24 and July 12 found a significant spike in young infections. Young adults aged 15 to 24 saw a 10 per cent increase in cases while newborns and toddlers increased just under two per cent. Image: AP
