PETALING JAYA: A two-year-old child is among the new Covid-19 cases linked to the Kurau cluster, says Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said three new cases were reported under this cluster on Monday , and all were relatives to index case 9,050.Case 9,050 is from Hulu Kinta, and is a 32-year-old healthcare worker.

The second case is her 48-year-old brother-in-law, who was detected as a result of active case detection and close contact screening. In a press conference, Dr Noor Hisham said case 9,050 had close contact with all the new cases during visits in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha on July 30.Besides the two-year-old boy, the other two cases involve a 27-year-old housewife and a 20-year-old male student.

As of Monday, 125 people in total have been screened from this cluster, with five tested positive so far, 112 negative and eight still pending results. Eleven new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Monday. The new cases linked to the Kurau cluster were among six local transmissions.
