A man in his 40s has become the youngest Victorian to die from COVID-19, as doctors warn many Australians have common health problems that put them at greater risk of harm from coronavirus

The death was one of 10 announced on Sunday, marking the deadliest day of the pandemic so far in Australia.Seven men who died were aged from their 40s to their 80s and three women were aged in their 70s and 80s. Seven of the deaths are connected to growing outbreaks at aged care facilities. There are now 560 active cases in aged care – 24 more than Saturday – across at least 38 homes.

Mr Andrews said although there was "relative stability" in the number of new coronavirus cases confirmed each day, case numbers were "far too high". There are 4233 active cases, of which 1253 are believed to be a result of community transmission. Outbreaks at aged care homes, healthcare facilities, big distribution centres, abattoirs, meatworks, cold stores and warehouses were largely behind Victoria’s second surge of the coronavirus pandemic, Mr Andrews said, as he pleaded with people to isolate and get tested even with the mildest symptoms.

Authorities have also linked 90 cases to Somerville Retail Services in Tottenham , 69 to JBS in Brooklyn and 60 to Bertocchi Smallgoods in Thomastown . The death of the man in his 40s stands as only the second coronavirus fatality of a person younger than 50 in Australia. In April a 42-year-old crew member of the Artania cruise ship died in a Perth hospital.Of the 42 people in ICU in Victoria, the vast majority are aged in their 60s and a further 15 are aged between 20 and 59. Seven people are in their 70s, two are in their 80s and one is in their 90s.

If you suspect you or a family member has the coronavirus you should call your GP or ring the national Coronavirus Health Information Hotline on 1800 020 080. If you have serious symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, call 000.People in their 20s and 30s are catching coronavirus in larger numbers compared to other age groups, while younger people are still frequently needing intensive care admission.

Melbourne BLM protests during COVID-19 ‘demonstrated the consequences are real’ | Sky News AustraliaThe consequences of a large public march in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic are “not academic” and are in fact very real, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\nIt comes as organisers of a Black Lives Matter protest say they will march regardless of the decision handed down by the Supreme Court as authorities move to block the rally going ahead on Tuesday due to the killer coronavirus outbreak.\n\nThe matter was brought before the court as more than 1,000 people expressed interest in attending the Sydney march which would defy the state’s public gathering restrictions.\n\n“Organisers of Sydney's proposed march on Tuesday argue that Black Lives Matter, and by that very fact, their right to march, trumps any other public health consideration,” Ms Credlin said. \n\n“I argue, this is rubbish, because the laws that put so many of us under restrictions at this time apply to all, equally, with no carve out based on race”. \n\nMs Credlin said Melbourne “was the experiment” back in early June, as widespread Black Lives Matter protests took place. \n\n“We can all see now, with over 3,700 active cases today and now 55 deaths, the consequences are real”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Sydney will have a 2nd wave. US healthcare system 'has left 30 million Americans uncovered' amid COVID-19 pandemic | Sky News AustraliaCypress College’s Peter Mathews is calling for a major overhaul of the US healthcare system, which he says has left 30 million Americans uncovered during the coronavirus pandemic. \n\n“It’s not a system that should have been in place when this pandemic hit, we need a comprehensive, universal system as you have in Australia and other countries in Europe,” he said. \n\n“Everyone is covered, everyone has access, and that way they can put health clinics out in the public, testing facilities can be expanded immediately. \n\n“In the US we’re not able to do any of those things and that’s one reason we’ve skyrocketed this week in terms of infection and why we have the largest number of people in the world infected.” \n\nMr Mathews said he believed the US should adopt a healthcare system similar to the British model or Canadian model. \n\nImage: AP Someone should ask Trump after he's finished at his NJ golf course today The US private heath system is working exactly as intended; maximum profit, minimum payouts, companies before people, insure/treat only those who can pay, and to hell with any thought of a properly funded public health system for a capitalist society. This is the leader of the free world? Not just Trump but the whole US political system is fascist Nazism reborn...
