As a writer, I spend my days trying to craft believable, satisfying narratives. But as a Covid-19 “long-hauler”, I have given up trying to find an internal logic to the story of my illness. Long term, most jobs, even middle class ones or creative ones, will be replaced by Artificial Intelligence or by robots. Then we'll just all have to sing at each other or make each other cups of coffee or cards. We will be essentially extinct, I fear.
