The Health Minister said this was due to the increase in labs in the country that conducted tests for Covid-19.
He said tests and screenings were important to trace individuals, whether they had symptoms or not, to ensure the authorities were able to curb the spread of Covid-19. “We can now screen about 37,000 cases a day through 56 labs to test for Covid-19 but if we can conduct more tests, then it will be even better, ” he added.
He added that when compared to other countries, Malaysia carried out tests on 28 people per 1,000 people, while South Korea did 26 tests for every 1,000 people; Japan four per 1,000, Vietnam 2 per 1,000.Dr Adham said it was important that test results were delivered quickly for health authorities to immediately carry out contact tracing and curb the spread of the virus in the early stages.
