The new plan says Covid-19 restrictions mean lower volumes of patients can be seen

The plan said for elective and day case in-patient services in acute hospitals , almost all had now been re-instated across specialities and sites, at reduced overall levels of activity.

However, it also warned that winter months might see a surge in activity due to cold and flu or other respiratory conditions, and bring associated pressure on planned activity. The plan said the BreastCheck and BowelScreen programmes would resume in the second phase with activity in the CervicalCheck and Diabetic RetinaScreen programmes increasing.
