TOTAL coronavirus infections in the country jumped to more than 67,000 Sunday, July 19, 2020, as the Department of Health recorded more than 2,000 additional cases in a single day again.
As of 4 p.m. Sunday, the DOH listed a total of 67,456 cases, including 2,241 confirmed new cases based on reports from 74 testing laboratories. The DOH also announced 58 additional mortalities, mostly from Central Visayas, raising the death toll to 1,831.Fifty-four, or 93 percent, were from Central Visayas while one each from National Capital Region , Ilocos, Zamboanga Peninsula and Davao regions were recorded.Central Visayas includes Cebu City, which has been identified as another epicenter of the coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic in the Philippines.Of the total cases, 43,160 were active cases as of Sunday.
Among the 2,241 new cases Sunday, the bulk at 1,625 came from NCR or Metro Manila, 115 from Laguna, 76 from Cavite, 75 from Rizal and 55 from Cebu. Nine out of 10, or 90.1 percent of the, cases were mild, while four out of every 1,000 were severely ill and another four out of 1,000 were in critical condition. The rest, or 9.1 percent, have not developed symptoms or were asymptomatic.
