And a 50/50 chance of death if hit by a bus 🚌

So, they have around a 95% chance of survival, then. And that's if the figures are accurate.

Under 65s? 0.0005%? What was the over 65s chance of dying of flu in the last 10 years? STOP TRYING TO SCARE PEOPLE!!!

5.6%? I mean, if the risk of dying is 95.6%, then authorities don't have to legislate draconian laws to enforce stuff like lockdown, masks, and all that. People will be cowering in fear

And a 94.4% chance if surviving, but that doesn’t suit your daily dose of gloom does it DM

Not bad odds..

The virus also takes the occasional younger person without underlying conditions too, just to keep us all uncertain. It leaves an, as yet, unknown percentage of people with long term health issues. That instead could be the real COVID legacy, not the death count

Its the choice a society has to make, do we sacrifice a large number of elderly and those with underlying conditions so the rest of us can live ‘normally’? It defines the kind of society we are..... which path?

It's just a flu.

So tell me why we are in lockdown...? If the percentages are so low then why is the Gov so afraid?

It’s misleading to put 65+ in the same category. For ages 65-70 the risk is nowhere near 5.6% but close to 0.2%.

And if your under about 40 YRS old the chances are nearly zero.

Is that all !? Great news! Only 5.6% ? We easily can spare that surely? ()

Yup - and it is the same with a lot of illnesses. The older you are, the higher the chance of dying. So the point of this article is what, exactly?

Like flu and pneumonia then

Not bad 'A lot of the deaths in Geneva happened in long-term care facilities, according to Andrew Azman from the research team. ..this may have had an influence over estimates of age-specific death risk and so the data used in the study may not be representative of the wider population' These are the people who populate elementary schools? This is why schools are closed?
