MANILA, Philippines — Former chairman of Commission on Elections and his wife were diagnosed as having the coronavirus disease, Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos announced on Friday.

Abalos said the positive results of her parents-in-law, Benjamin and Corazon Abalos, were released this morning.“Actually kahapon pa namin dinala ang mommy sa hospital, and ang daddy this morning nung lumabas ang result ng test nila na positive sila and they both have symptoms,” Mayor Abalos said in a text message to reporters.
