The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday reported a “positive development” in their monitoring of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases abroad as it reported no new cases and now new fatalities among Filipinos across the

“On this brand new week and after three months of daily monitoring COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad, the DFA reports no new confirmed cases and no new fatalities due to COVID-19 among our people across the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa,” the DFA said in a statement.

Despite the development, the DFA said the department, along with its various foreign service posts worldwide, remains vigilant and steadfast in monitoring the status of Filipinos abroad, assisting those who are affected, and continuously working to safely bring stranded Filipinos home, whenever possible.

To date, the total number of overseas Filipinos with confirmed COVID-19 cases is 8,679. Of the total, 2,901 are live cases, 5,201 have recovered or have been discharged from hospitals abroad, and 577 have died of the disease.
