Sky News host Alan Jones has called on the nation’s leaders to provide some real leadership “instead of fear and hysteria” as an extraordinary alarmist campaign over coronavirus continues.

Mr Jones said over the past months the “constant alarmist repetition” has been spruiked over the virus. He said while the 106 deaths have been saddening, the ongoing repercussions of the disease have meant “the economy has been crushed”.

“We're frightening the hell out of people over coronavirus which as the Prime Minister said on March 15, for eight out of ten it would be nothing more than a flu,” Mr Jones said. “We have political leaders who've become followers”. “chief medical officers whose names have never appeared on a ballot paper are running the country”. “I think it's time our leaders provided some real leadership instead of fear and hysteria”.

Like all commentators, all the care and none of the share

Irrelevant old man.

A lot has changed since 15 March. Hundreds of thousands have died.

Will Alan take himself off to the towers in Melbourne, walk around the corridors, knock on a few doors, talk to people & expose himself to the virus just to test his theory..no..didn’t think so.

16 March: Jones calles Coronavirus 'the global warming of health' - a hoax. This is the moment he should STFU.

FO Jones

Alan Jones was telling people it was no big deal while he was isolating in the country...he can sit this one out.

Thank you for your input but I'll listen to the experts. Don't be so hysterical, you're not helping.

Hang on Alan, that would mean your great mate ScoMo would have to lead. I'm surprised you are calling your friend out. Are you feeling ok?

Wake up Australia

Alan Jones foreshadows in his new show an attack on the failed LNP leadership of Morrison & McCormack - caving in to COVID alarmism, trashing the economy, failing to reform universities. Jones will have the Coalition careerists worried over what he is up to.

Stay retired

Did Alan Jones get a medical certificate for appearing on this? He had to quit his last gig for medical reasons, I hope newscorpaus won't be liable if he drops dead on live television choking on his vile?

He's doing comedy now? Awesome!

FatherBob Menzies ‘reds under the beds’ a conservative leader has always been the poster boy for LNP leadership. When a Jones denounces Menzies fear campaign then I might start to listen.

FatherBob AlanJones speaks ... Covidiot MurdochTrashMedia

Fear is useful if it galvanises appropriate action to save our lives and the economy. If there is covid in your area, wear a mask, wash hands, physical distancing... save lives, save livelihoods.

Spot on Alan, the hatred it is generating towards Victorians is alarming
