.Three new cases involved staff from separate hospitals whose infections were confirmed on Monday, the health department said.
A 30-bed field hospital has been set up at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Flemington to treat residents from the public housing towers. Associate Professor Trubiano said of the approximately140 confirmed coronavirus cases that had come to the attention of the hospital this year, only about 30 had required a stay in hospital.
“I think we are ultimately much better prepared for an increase in cases this time around,” he said. “We can get on top of it.”A nurse at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville had also contracted the virus, the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed late Monday afternoon.“Any staff, patients or visitors who may have been affected have been informed and our Infection Prevention and Surveillance Service is providing support,” the statement said.
Less than a month ago, on June 12, the number of COVID-19 patients in Victorian hospitals dipped to five, when just one person was in intensive care.

I think we need to shut down Melbourne Metro for at least 30 days to stage 4. It looks like it is spreading like wildfire. QLD has also just opened nightclubs with dancing etc....That would suggest the elimination of Covid from that state. As for NSW I’m not yet convinced!

I have children at Flemington P.S. Myself and other parents are concerned about our children going to school next term. Children have tested positive and student to student transmission is occurring. Schools are not safe yet. We are worried we need remotelearning
