THE Department of Health on Saturday, July 4, 2020, reported 1,494 new cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total count to 41,830.An additional 380 patients ave recovered, increasing the recoveries to 11,453.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire justified the high number of cases on July 3, saying they adjusted the period within which the Epidemiology Bureau collected the data from the Covid-Kaya system.Among the additional cases reported on July 4, the DOH said 403 are fresh cases and 1,091 are late cases.

Vergeire said they are set to do away with the fresh cases and late cases with the new reporting system that will be introduced next week.
