The Department of Science and Technology is set to start its government-funded study on convalescent blood plasma as a mode of therapy for COVID-19 patients, Palace says.

The Department of Science and Technology is set to start its government-funded study on convalescent blood plasma as a mode of therapy for COVID-19 patients, Palace said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement Saturday that DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña has confirmed the new undertaking. Convalescent plasma is taken from the blood of individuals who have recovered from the coronavirus disease, and is being used as an adjunctive therapy for those who are currently infected by the illness.

“We hope this study will yield positive results and be our country's contribution to the global effort to develop COVID-19 treatment,” Roque said. The University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital will take on the study as it receives funding from the DOST.

thats great move from the phil government to fund more on department of science and technology , research and development , DOST funded UP-PGH University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital in the research of convalescent plasma as Treatment for Covid-19.

So the call for plasma donations was unfounded and not an evidence-based approach against COVID-19? This is too late.
