MANILA, June 29 (Xinhua): The number of Covid-19 (coronavirus) cases in the Philippines soared to 36,438 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 985 more infections on Monday.

The DOH said in its bulletin that the number of recoveries further rose to 9,956 after 270 more patients have survived the disease.

According to the DOH, 319 of the daily reported cases were in Metro Manila, 135 cases in the Central Visayas region in the central Philippines and 531 cases in other parts of the country. In a statement, the Manila-based bank said the Local Governance Reform Project will help LGUs improve real property tax collection by strengthening property valuation mechanisms, introducing new digital tools for transparent and accurate reporting, and updating tax maps and property valuation assessments.

"Local governments play a critical role in poverty reduction. Mobilising local revenue in an efficient, equitable, and transparent manner is vital to local governments' goal of delivering accessible, quality public services," ADB Senior Public Management Specialist for South-East Asia Robert Boothe said.
