THE Department of Health on Friday, June 26, 2020, reported a new spike in fresh coronavirus infections that brought the total case count in the country past 34,000.The June 23 fresh cases were the highest in a single day since the DOH introduced the new classifications of additional infections on May 29.

Beverly Lorraine Ho, director of the DOH Health Promotion and Communication Service, clarified that the number of occupied intensive care unit beds and the number mechanical ventilators that are being used do not correspond to the number of severe and critical cases of Covid-19. She said that while critical care utilization in some areas has increased, there are still enough supplies and equipment for critical care in the country’s health facilities.
