Victoria has recorded 41 additional cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the largest single-day increase in almost three months.
Emergency alerts will be sent from today to people in Keilor Downs and Broadmeadows to inform them of testing in their areas.A total of about 758,000 tests have been carried out, an increase of about 22,000 since yesterday.Victoria's Deputy Chief Health Officer, Dr Annaliese van Diemen announced the 41 new cases on Saturday.
Victoria is doing mass testing so the numbers are rising the other states with 0 cases are only testing if you have symptoms so what is there real numbers I bet it's not 0

There is no 'second spike' in Victoria or anywhere else in Australia. annaliesevd what is the false positive rate for the current test kit you are using? This needs declaring. It will be more than 1%. If you test 3000 people, 30+ will test positive

I suggest it’s the community view that all o/s travellers be COVID tested on arrival & at the end of their quarantine period. Given it’s taxpayer’s money which meets the cost this is only fit & proper. Otherwise send them back & keep them locked up while they wait for a plane.

rpjward No. 15 cases have been added to the 'community transmission' total - they are NOT from today's 41 cases, with the exception perhaps of a couple. They are usually cases contact tracers have been investigating over the past few days. I wish papers would report this accurately!
The 15 cases on community transmission announced today IS NOT part of the 41 positive cases diagnosed over the 24 hr period. It takes a few days to investigate these cases so will be part of cases reported in previous days.
This news is very concerning as the proportion of locally acquired cases continues to trend upwards. Reassuring aspect though is the intensive testing blitz being conducted in localized hotspots. A lot of public health resources and effort is being thrown at this
The headline reads 41 NEW CASES PANIC!!! What it should say is 65% of cases in the last 12 days have come from known hot spots. The complete and utter fear mongering doesn’t help, especially when it comes to people panic buying in supermarkets.
