In a statement on Thursday , Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah warned members of the public not to be complacent in the “new norm” era, now that restrictions have been lifted.
“Of late, there have been many reports in the mainstream media and social media on the lack of compliance among many individuals, companies and industries towards Covid-19 SOPs that have been set. “Recently, news that Broga Hill in Selangor was packed with visitors became viral. As a result, the Health Ministry has ordered the Broga Hill hiking area to be shut down indefinitely from June 27 in accordance with Section 18 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
“The SOPs and new norm that have often been stressed by the government is a form of defence towards the transmission of the Covid-19 virus,” said Dr Noor Hisham.“The ministry hopes that all the hard work we did all these while to break the chain of the Covid-19 transmission will be continued by all sections of the community,” he said.
Located near Semenyih in Selangor, Broga Hill is a popular location amongst hikers in the Klang Valley.
