Another Cebu mayor tests positive for COVID-19

According to Shimura, he attended a meeting at the Capitol and joined a press briefing with Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia on June 17, after which he experienced cough and fever prompting him to undergo a swab test.

Shimura added that he was tested using the Rapid Diagnostic Test kit on June 15, but the results turned out to be negative. Shimura has ordered the disinfection of the entire municipal hall building in his town on Monday, June 22, and suspended the operation of the Mayor's office for one week. Lapu-Lapu City mayor Junard Ahong Chan on Friday announced that he tested positive for COVID-19, the first mayor from Cebu province infected by the disease.
