Health Minister Jenny Mikakos reveals 19 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the state as the Government extends Victoria's state of emergency for a further four weeks.

Victoria has recorded 19 new coronavirus cases overnight, the fifth day in a row of double-digit increases, prompting the Government to extend the state of emergency for a further four weeks.

There was also four new cases of travellers in hotel quarantine, three detected in routine testing and eight cases under investigation. The recent spike in cases has prompted the Government to bring back some tougher restrictions, including limiting visitors inside homes to five people and outdoor gatherings to 10 people from midnight tonight.Ms Mikakos said people still needed to consider their need to move about in the community.

The only state with a problem.......what does that say about their leadershop

A lot of Victorians are thinking this right now. boundforsouthaustralia

Whole point was to save the health system which no one has died or gone to hospital in months. Now it’s we want zero cases which will never happen. We need an election labor needs to go

Time to re open quarantine centres . Don’t comply with isolation when infected , lock them up and fine their arse .

Dan Andrews is showing that he is incompetent

We need a giant dome for vic like the one they had in the simpsons movie

Victoria.........no surprise.

Lock everyone down but protests are allowed, Hmmm

Andrews, no one is going to listen to you anymore when you punish all familes for the transgressions of those who should have been quarantining. Your response is highly disproportionate and discriminatory.

Gee whiz. A fortnight after the demonstrations too. What a surprise 🙄 - any thoughts on the coincidence? defundtheabc

At least the government is liasing with multicultural organisations to spread the information in different languages now, maybe the message to stay safe will get through.

Come on ABC let’s break the hold of other channels that only tweet and show BAD news, let the ABC be the force for change by spreading all the good news stories that are in the world today. Can I hear a cheer from other tweeters?

OK Dan 19 new cases. How many deaths? How many hospitalised. How many without symptoms. It is called Herd Immunity. Google it might help you understand a little virology. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Punishment need to be introduced for those doesnt follow rules. Those tiny ones damage economics.

dictatordan couldn't run a bath.

Continued high rates of testing in Vic essential to detect and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community If people don't isolate and quarantine after testing positive (as reported in Victoria) infection spreads Testing must be accompanied by tracking tracing and isolating

Toilet paper.And so it begins.Again.Sigh.🐾🇦🇺

Daniel Andrews does not care about businesses and unemployed. Because the money to support them comes from Scott . Let’s see suburban lockdown , NO , as most would be in Labor seats.

This is why Andrews made a somewhat unpopular but sensible decision for Victoria, yesterday. michaelobrienmp

Chyyna. What would Dan do without them

lol
