PETALING JAYA: Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who has been giving daily briefings on Covid-19, says it's refreshing to be able to squeeze some time from his hectic schedule to perform a surgery.

"This morning, I managed to squeeze some time to perform a thyroidectomy for a patient diagnosed with right dominant multinodular goitre.

He also said he was briefed on the workflow and standard operating procedure for Covid-19 positive patients who have to undergo surgery. "As the pandemic crisis unfolds, it has taught many valuable lessons of unity and solidarity. The onus is on us to take all precautionary measures and maintain good personal hygiene.
