The virus reproductive rate is estimated to be between 0.4 and 0.8

Image: Leon Farrell/RollingNews.ie Image: Leon Farrell/RollingNews.ie HEALTH MINISTER SIMON Harris has said the virus reproductive rate is staying “remarkably stable”, estimated to be between 0.4 and 0.8.

Harris informed the Daíl that he was told by chair of the modelling advisory group Professor Philip Nolan that “we can be confident it remains below one this week”. He said this was a testament to the “huge efforts” made by people in this country. Harris asked people to keep a list of the people they meet with to help with contact tracing and said they should not go to work if they feel sick.

If one person had it in the country and they gave it to 3 people the R rate would be 3

Dr Holohan has said with cases so low now the R number cannot be precisely predicted . So why do the HSE keep using it ? It's only reliable on high numbers , which we had ..

Is that not as bad as it is good ? Like it's not going down but it's not going up. But with restrictions easing is it nor more likely to rise
