MELAKA: Covid-19 is not the only health threat as the state has recorded a hike in dengue cases.

State health and anti-drug committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said Melaka registered a hike of 15.49% or 1,044 cases of dengue from Jan 1 to June 6, compared to 904 cases during the same period in 2019.Rahmad said Melaka Tengah recorded the highest number with 695 cases followed by Jasin and 161 in Alor Gajah.

"The Melaka Health Department has embarked on various measures to eradicate the breeding ground of Aedes mosquitoes despite having their hands full combating the Covid-19 threat," he said on Thursday after visiting Kampung Bukit Pulau which emerged as one of the 10 dengue hotspots in the state.
