The World Health Organization's special envoy on Covid-19, Dr David Nabarro, is speaking to the Oireachtas Special Committee on Covid-19 this morning.Dr Nabarro has said it is "highly unlikely" and "really surprising" that Ireland would go into total lockdown again - however local areas might see movement restrictions due to clusters.
Earlier, committee chairman Michael McNamara said it would give the committee the chance to get a situation update on the pandemic and the most up-to-date public health advice from the WHO. It comes after the Government recommended that face coverings be worn when in an enclosed location where physical distancing may not be possible, such as in shops or on public transport.
However, he later said on RTÉ's Today with Sarah McInerney that face coverings should be worn when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
davidnabarro 😂😂 WHO have done a good job filly people with shit
davidnabarro Could he be asked to clarify this......
davidnabarro Dr. David Nabarro said that it is highly unlikely that Ireland would have to go into a second national lockdown and that any new outbreaks/clusters should be handled locally. We have been saying this for weeks but our deaf Government and NPHET ignoring us.
