Irishman who was ‘picture of health’ hospitalised for six weeks with coronavirus

A man who was a ‘picture of health’ and had no underlying health problems before Covid-19 left him in hospital for six weeks, has said people should act as soon as they have symptoms.

Pat is now recovering at home in Drogheda where he is well known in the community as he teaches music and is the choir director at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He said the decision was made after he turned to get a drink of water and, “whatever way my lung creased, I could not get my breath. It was like somebody sitting on your chest when you are trying to breath, you just cannot get your breath.” Pat was 6 weeks in hospital, four of which were in intensive care and 15 days of that were in an induced coma.
