Sky News host Sharri Markson says the Black Lives Matter protesters across Australia on Saturday could “very well be directly responsible” for a second wave of coronavirus cases. Ms Markson said the “biggest worry” for the health officials and politicians throughout the country when deciding to lift restrictions was the risk of a second wave of the virus.
“It doesn’t matter what these protesters are protesting … the subject matter here is not relevant because these protesters are breaking the ban on mass gatherings, they’re risking their lives along with everyone else’s,” she said. The protesters were quite clearly “breaking the ban” on mass gatherings, “flouting social compact” and were risking unravelling “all of the good work that we’ve done as a collective for the past 11 weeks”.
