JAKARTA (Jakarta Post/ANN): The Covid-19 (coronavirus) cases in Indonesia rose by 993 within one day to 30,514, with the death toll adding by 31 to 1,801, Achmad Yurianto, a Health Ministry official, said at a press conference here on Saturday (June 6).

According to him, 464 more people had been discharged from hospitals, making the total number of recovered patients stand at 9,907.

Authorities have been conducting coronavirus tests in the affected areas and ordered the public to always wear masks to curb the spread. The government also announced that foreign investors are starting to put their money back into Indonesian assets as countries around the world begin to ease their Covid-19 restrictions, spurring hopes of a global economic recovery.

The capital inflows boosted the rupiah 8.7 percent in the past month, reaching Rp 13,877 per United States dollar on Friday afternoon. The Jakarta Composite Index benchmark stock gauge gained nearly 5 percent within a month.
