No one knows that this is accurate I don't support the practice, but tear gas & pepper spray could inactivate the virus. There are no studies listed here. The one thing we know spreads the virus is close physical contact as is happening in the demonstrations.

MalcolmNance I thought about this. It was already mentioned early on how covid particles can attach themselves to pollution and smoke in the air. Tear gas produces smoke. Fires from burning buildings/fires produce smoke. These protests are important, but so risky for the participants.
