Black Lives Matter protest organisers in Sydney have launched an eleventh-hour appeal to have a decision by the Supreme Court – which deemed the gathering illegal – overturned.

The New South Wales government made the submission to the Supreme Court to place an injunction against scheduled solidarity protests due to concerns about a potential spike in COVID-19 cases.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she instructed Chief Police Commissioner Mick Fuller to approach the Supreme Court due to the event organisers' inability to assure the government protests could be conducted in a COVID-safe manner. More than 5,000 people are set to attend the march with NSW Police due to issue fines to those doing the wrong thing.

Some good rentacrowds there

2/ We need to make sure cameras from various sources capture and identify each protesting criminal spreader so they can all be held to account by their fellow Australians for their actions. Good luck to everyone.

Well done idiots

BLM is a virus

Important to arrest and isolate for 14 days all COVID19 protesting criminals/spreaders. Following this if COVID19 cases lead back to a demonstrating spreader make sure the criminal spreader faces law suits from both the govt and victims.

All Lives Matter - Stop the BS

They want to protest about Aboriginal deaths in custody, but non-Aboriginal people actually have a higher rate of death in custody than Aboriginal people. So, we should actually be protesting about non-Aboriginal deaths in custody. 😏

Have they installed COVIDSAFE app? Anyway, I personally would reduce going out for two weeks, let’s wait and see if we really need social distancing.
