Why four antibody test-kits failed validation tests –Ehanire

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, says four antibody-based test kits evaluated by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for testing COVID- 19 failed validation tests.

Speaking on COVID-19 testing at the briefing, Ehanire said, “To comment on various test lists said to be in use in Nigeria, especially antibody-based test kits, it is important to advise that only four of the kits have been evaluated by the MLSCN and all four failed the validation tests. “No antigen test kit has yet been evaluated. This means that results obtained from these tests are not tenable for diagnostics, being deficient in sensitivity and specificity and are likely to give false results and mislead people.

DrEOEhanire Chikwe_I let me borrow you two my one pence advise. Serological test (antigen test, if you like) is cheaper and should be used to test asymptomatic people for covid19. We must make it work somehow. This 50k per capita testing is clearly outrageous & unsustainable.
