The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Friday that the issuance of “couple pass’’ that would allow back rides on motorcycle riders has been repeatedly rejected by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) despite persistent public demands due to health safety reasons.

In a news briefing, DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya stressed that backride even for couples is still in violation of physical distancing.

Another problem if “couple passes’’ are legalized for back rides is law enforcement since the police cannot inspect all back riding motorcycle riders on the road.
