COLUMBUS, June 2 — New US research suggests that any amount of exercise could be effective in lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease for those who are obese or overweight. The participants' self-reports on their physical activity levels were used to place them into one of three categories: no exercise at all, exercising for one to 149 minutes per week, or exercising for more than 150 minutes per week.

However, the good news is that for those who are obese, doing 150 minutes or more of moderate or vigorous exercise each week lowered the risk of of CVD by 50 per cent, and even exercising for just 10 minutes at a time lowered the risk by 34 per cent.
