Barbara Ferrer, the director of the L.A. County Department of Public Health, urged protesters to wear masks and use social distancing whenever possible.
The county has allowed retailers and restaurants to reopen, while maintaining social distancing guidelines. Ferrer said those relaxed measures remain in place, even though they may result in a slight increase in infections. “Wearing your face covering is a much needed act of respect,” she said. “This is a time to show up with compassion and respect for other people.”
