The nursing home industry says money is one of the main obstacles to widespread testing, particularly to pay for testing of staff, who number more than 1 million people. An industry trade group, the American Health Care Association, estimates it would cost $672 million for a one-time test for all residents and staff in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. And that would not solve the problem, since public health experts recommend ongoing testing.
“It’s very important in the next stimulus bill not to just order testing,” said Parkinson, adding that Congress needs to provide the money as well.

Because they are horribly understaffed! The private equity firms that own and operate these places are completely to blame! When State inspectors come, staff is pumped up to “adequate” numbers. Inspection over, back to staffing so low that it is actually impossible to be safe.

If you’ve ever been in a nursing home, you can see how very difficult it would be to control a virus like this. Even the best care facilities can’t control everything.

And those upward of 30,000 nursing home deaths are a *DIRECT* result of Trump reversing the regulation BarackObama enacted that had required nursing homes to prepare SPECIFICALLY for a pandemic outbreak in nursing homes. That's the guy who puts nursing home profits over lives.
