MANILA: The Philippines' Department of Health on Sunday (may 17) reported 208 new cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) infections and seven more fatalities as the total confirmed cases have risen to 12,513, most of which are in the capital Manila, while its death toll has climbed to 824.

The South-East Asian country's total confirmed cases have risen to 12,513, most of which are in the capital Manila, while its death toll has climbed to 824.On Saturday, the country reported that 214 more people have been stricken with the coronavirus disease. However, health authorities urged people to stay at home and avoid non-essential movement while the restrictions are eased.

Provinces and cities with high rate virus transmission such as the capital Manila will be under strict"modified" lockdown measures until May 31.
