A nine-year-old boy in France has died from symptoms similar to those of Kawasaki disease after testing positive to COVID-19. 9News

Doctors in Marseille reported that the nine-year-old died after a "neurological injury related to cardiac arrest".

The boy, who had tested positive for coronavirus, received treatment at the hospital for seven days before his death.The boy was in hospital for seven days before succumbing to his illness. At least three children in the United States and one in the United Kingdom have also died after experiencing similar symptoms.

The United States' Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued an alert to doctors over the coronavirus-linked condition on Thursday, which it labelled multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr Sanjaya Senanayake told the Today show the deaths "may or may not" be related to COVID-19.
