IT leaders are having more frequent, casual virtual meetings with their own teams and sending email surveys to gauge employee well-being across the company. They also are enabling the use of tools for workers to create mental-health-focused online portals and helping to ensure employees have an appropriate work-life balance.
He also is spearheading activities that aim to help colleagues to get to know each other better, for example, by sharing photos of employees’ home-office setups and interesting facts about themselves. In addition, he said, he is asking his staff questions that might have been viewed as off-limits or prying before the pandemic, such as, “Are you feeling OK?” and “Is there anything I can help with?”
Pesticide and crop-seed maker Syngenta, based in Switzerland, launched a so-called well-being portal on April 8 as the company recognized the need to address the mental health impact of the pandemic, said CIO Greg Meyers. The website, developed with software from Smartsheet Inc., offers employees links to videos, websites and podcasts about topics ranging from managing fear and anxiety to exercise, recipes and parenting tips.
