Coronavirus: Are children at risk and do they spread it?

Some children are set to go back to primary schools in England, but big questions remain about their role in the pandemic. But it is unclear how much they might be spreading it to each other and to adults, including staff. It remains the case that, overall, older people are most at risk of complications from the virus.

Coronavirus is transmitted in a similar way to the flu virus - through coughing or touching contaminated objects, such as pens and door handles. "Understanding this is vital to understanding how to manage the outbreak response, including decisions about when to re-open schools," he says.say they are starting with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children because:younger children are less likely to become unwell if infected

The syndrome appeared to be similar to the over-active immune response, known as a"cytokine storm", seen in some adults with Covid-19. In many cases, it seems it is the body's immune response rather than the virus itself that proves life-threatening. "We should investigate fully these children, with Sars-CoV-2, who present with a multi-system inflammatory disease to assess whether this is a presentation of Covid-19," she says. While children can catch coronavirus, it is rarely serious. If your child is unwell it is likely to be a non-coronavirus illness, rather than coronavirus itself.

Children are the super spreader.

Why do I want to send my son a year 10 student to & from school on a jam packed bus. Also how will toilets be policed? Break times . September is a far better time for them all to return

As children are know as the primary germ spreaders which is why they want them to have flu jabs to 'stop spreading it to the elderly' its surely going to be the same for covid. Also, just because most children dont get ill from it, some do and very seriously ill. Why risk it?

Keep up the scaremongering BBC! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Children are dying from it. Stop downplaying the risk to them. You are the reason why parents are letting their kids run loose and get ill.

From the Continent. No. For some bizarre reason. No.

Not as much as the bullshit you failed journalist spread around.

its just a seasonal flu hyped up to control the mass

14yr old just died in London with the ‘unknown’ inflammatory disease they linking to corona. Until more is known I don’t feel safe sending my children to school.

Protect yourself and others

They must be they are human beings and not robots after all

Yep because parents are thick and don't stick to the rules

These type of media reports are why parents and unions are jumping up and down about schools reopening. Let's have reports based on facts and not based on could.

Yes.

Is this founded on any evidence or your malicious attempt to sell a story?

This is a fairly typical BBC non article. In summary It says “we don’t know“. I guess they have to look busy.
