Most COVID-19 patients in NSW recover in just over two weeks, the state’s first comprehensive surveillance report shows

Premier Gladys Berejiklian warned the public not to be lulled into a false sense of security.

Among those who tested positive for the virus, more than half recovered within 16 days, the NSW Health report shows. Seventy-five per cent of cases recovered after 23 days and by the six-week mark 95 per cent had recovered. NSW Health authorities assess recoveries by interviewing patients three weeks after the onset of their illness. Patients with no symptoms are considered recovered.By the week ending May 9, 82.4 per cent of COVID cases, or 2515 people, had recovered , 9.5 per cent were still unwell, 1.5 per cent had died and 6.6 per cent were less than three weeks into their illness.

"The enemy is complacency, if people drop their guard, think it's just a cold or the flu … that will be a mistake."

Covid19NSW If thats true why does NSW have 70% of all active cases? This should be far lower

Im curious to know how many variants of corona have been detected in Australia ? Here in the USA lots of discussions about east coast (milder) versus west coast variants - have their been any discussions on different strains?
