Trump said the US began developing vaccine on January 11, but the US didn’t have a single confirmed COVID-19 case at that time, how could it develop? Did the data come from China or did the US conceal many confirmed cases?
China uploaded the virus gene sequence Jan 11. Trump pulled the US out of WHO and launched a 'Manhattan Project' to develop a vaccine separate from EU, China, Japan and other countries. This is absurd. The world faces a common enemy, COVID-19. International cooperation is key.
Not clear how Trump is slowing anything with vaccines. The vaccine development continues regardless. As pointed out, Duprex is working with European institutes & companies; so development & trials are or will be international supported by international money (CEPI).
I got the impression based on what UK scientists have said that at their level there is huge cooperation across the world, including the US. This article implies the US is operating behind closed doors, I’m not convinced that’s true scientifically even if politically they are.
This whole vaccine thing is a farce. First we have never made a coronavirus vaccine of any kind, we have no ability to manufacture enough for 6 billion people before the virus mutates or kills millions, all based on a hope and a prayer. The first to get it will hog it anyway.
